Jayne Couch

Visual Artist

Jayne Couch began teaching ‘Drawing at the National Gallery’ for the Ottawa School of Art in 2013. She continues to teach a weekly course at OSA where she provides an interactive and rational approach to drawing.

Jayne is the author of, The Canadian Drawing Course which is a modern interpretation of the 19th century academic drawing course by Charles Bargue. In her course, Jayne has broken down the process to expose mathematical components to drawing.

Jayne resides in the charming hamlet of Burritt’s Rapids where she offers free drawing classes on Saturdays at the public library. She hopes that by offering courses in her community, she can engage local youth and provide a practical application of The Canadian Drawing Course.
